Welcome!

I'm so glad you're here! My name is Janet Brockman. Music is basic human behavior. Everyone is born with the ability to learn to do it, just as everyone is born with the ability to learn to speak. There was a time when everyone was a musician. There are cultures still today where everyone is a musician.  Almost everyone learns to speak. Why do so many people NOT do music? At Everyone Can Jam, we explore this question and some of the answers....because so many people LONG to play music.

A few years ago, I quit my job as a school teacher, so that I could find answers to this question and to develop ways of teaching music that can work for everyone. The biggest most obvious answer I have found is that back when everyone was a musician, music was a lot simpler than it is now. I used to say music IS a language, but now I say, verbal language is just one form of music. Anyone who can speak and communicate verbally has already developed a high level of musical skill. That same ability can be used to learn the form of music I will call “song.”

I have learned many helpful things, and I can't wait to share. Please keep your eye on my Janet Brockman YouTube channel and be sure to sign up for my email list, because I put things there that I don't put anywhere else.
